Fourth stage of Giro d’Italia Donne 2021: Formazza Fondovalle – Formazza Riale, Cascata del Toce

The fourth stage, the last Piedmontese stage of the Giro d’Italia Donne, arrives in the province of Verbano Cusio Ossola: after the Casale Monferrato – Ovada stage which Marianne Vos of the Jumbo-Visma Women Team won, today Monday 5 July, at 12 pm, the individual time trial is held: Formazza Fondovalle – Formazza Riale, Cascata del Toce, Cima Coppi.

The athletes are starting in two separate blocks in the opposite order of that of the individual general classification, each one minute apart, except for the last 10 athletes who will be 2 minutes apart. 138 cyclists are present at the starting line, while Ariadna Gutierrez Arzaluz and Arlenis Sierra Canadilla of the A.R. Monex Women’s Pro Cycling Team, Emanuela Zanetti of Isolmant – Premac – Vittoria will not ride today.

Today’s race is 11.2 km long, with an altitude difference of over 500 m and which reaches an altitude of 1,714 m (this year’s record). In fact, at the start at an altitude of 1,210, an uninterrupted climb begins that leads to the imposing Morasco dam in the hamlet of Riale, passing through the Cascata del Toce and its jump of 143 meters.

The 4th stage can be seen on TV today, Monday 5 July on Rai Sport HD, at 7.35 pm with the best of the stage in 50’, available also on RaiPlay, and on Rai2 with a summary during Tour Replay. Tomorrow, Tuesday 6 July on Eurosport 1, recorded broadcast at 11 am.
